The Holden story began in 1856, when James Alexander Holden established J.A Holden & Co in Adelaide as a manufacturer of saddles and harnesses. Five decades later, it began building car bodies, starting up its first car engine in 1948.

Motorsport is an undeniable part of Holden’s DNA, having raced its vehicles in Australia and overseas with remarkable success for more than 50 years.

Holden’s race cars, including the Monaro, Torana and Commodore have become legendary for their feats, with some of the biggest names of the sport at the wheel.
